As the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is conducting broad consultations on the Draft Law Amending and Supplementing Several Articles of the Law on Environmental Protection, Vietnam's sustainable development story is once again placed at the center of policymaking. As the economy enters a phase of rapid growth, deeper integration, and a new wave of investment, pressure on the environment has increased significantly - from domestic pollution and the risk of importing outdated technologies to cross-border environmental challenges. At the same time, the requirement to fulfill international commitments such as the Paris Agreement and the Net Zero emissions target demands that Vietnam rapidly transition to a low-carbon development model, promoting a green and circular economy.

UEH Launches Green Action, Green Points, and Green Coins System, Aiming for Every Student to Become a 'Green Citizen' Role Model

The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has officially launched the UEH Green Campus - Green Coins - Green Citizen System. This initiative allows over 37,000 learners to perform green actions, earn green points, and convert them into "Green Coins" for payments or discounts on internal services at UEH. Built on a "gamified" technology platform, this initiative is expected to motivate every student to proactively act for the environment and sustainable development.

In November 2025, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) officially announced that seven international research projects under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) – UNEP grant program would receive a total of $350,000 in funding through the SEA Grants. This is a flagship pilot program designed to promote sustainable local solutions for marine and coastal conservation across the East Asian Seas. Among them, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is honored to be the lead institution for the "Women4Mangrove – Empowering Women for Nature-based Coastal Solutions" project in Vietnam, which aims to develop a model for mangrove conservation and restoration linked to community livelihoods, particularly for women in coastal areas.
